Alan Smith

Managing Director

Alan co founded event exchange in 1997 after seeing a genuine need in the market for a truly one stop shop bespoke approach to corporate conference and event planning. He previously held a number of positions within the 5 star luxury and country house hotel market and regional sales and marketing roles throughout the UK.

Alan's previous experience means he is totally conversant with the many and varied requirements placed upon corporate planners especially in today's tough economic climate. Alan manages several of the company's major accounts as well as steering the ship and keeping a canny Scots hand on the chequebook.

Likes: his Aga, Saffron, Friday nights, any wine, kitchen gadgets, curries.

Dislikes: anyone else using his Aga, Saffron in a mood, flying, bonus time, weeding the garden and washing up by hand.

Chris Smart

Director

Chris was a co-founder of event exchange back in 1997. Previously he held positions in purchasing and client services for a large Marketing Agency dealing with event planning and management and fully understands the complexity and constraints upon corporate planners.

Chris manages several key accounts of the business and looks after the sales, marketing and client services element of the business.

Likes: cooking, good food and wine, fast cars, the sun, interior design and socialising.

Dislikes: net curtains, lamb, cheap shoes, flying economy and ironing bed sheets.

Saffron

Dogs Body

Saffron is one of the founding members of event exchange and plays an essential role in maintaining a calm and relaxed environment in the office. She is also a true ambassador for the company, and proves popular with clients and suppliers alike. To her work colleagues she is a welcome diversion from the stress of events and always makes sure that no lunches go to waste.

Likes: dentasticks, soft toys, playing with conkers, walks in the country and bizarrely enough, cats!

Dislikes: wearing her rain coat, when the Directors go away, vacuum cleaners and yappy little dogs.

Alan Hutton

Company Accountant / Secretary

Alan joined the company in November 1997. Alan is a fully qualified accountant and looks after all the financial aspects of event exchange. He also works with the Directors on the development of the company and offers guidance and advice on the running of event exchange.

Likes: Skiing, his house in France, food & wine, golf and walking.

Dislikes: Coming home from his house in France, cheap wine, spending money and baby sitting.

Caroline Hutton

Accounts Department

Caroline runs the accounts department and her role is to ensure that the financial side of the business runs smoothly.

She carefully monitors the day to day accounts and other important matters such as the team’s expenses. Invoices for dredging moats will definitely be declined!

Likes: Looking after her grandchild, gardening, good food & wine, walking and going on holiday.

Dislikes: Shopping, the rain, Alan when he is in a mood & washing the car.

James Gould

Account/ Event Manager

James joined the team in July 2006 and has a degree in Business Administration and is fluent in Spanish and conversant in French.

From his degree, but also having worked in several small and large businesses during and following university, James has a thorough understanding of the business world as well as boasting excellent organisational and administration skills and the ability to deliver the complete customer service experience.

James’ role is to manage accounts, take briefs, organise and event manage as well as continually monitoring and maintaining our company brand, image and website. He also works closely alongside the directors on key accounts and events.

Likes: food, wine, the gym, running, rugby (come on Bath!), Aleksandr the Meerkat, Spain, looking after Saffron, the house being clean, holidays and travelling.

Dislikes: the rain, cricket, hanging up washing, snakes, spiders and the big four week gap in between pay days.

Linda Tonkiss

Business Development / Executive Assistant

Linda joined the company in 2008 as a consultant and has recently been taken on to look after the business development side of the business and support the company directors with the running of the office and project work. She comes to us with a strong Hotel and Catering background having worked in Central London for several years before moving to the South West as Catering Manager for House of Fraser.

More recently she had been working as a Managing Partner of a local Estate Agency where she built the branch up to become the most profitable in the Region as well as being the training branch for the area.

Linda has returned to the industry which she has a real passion for and is now helping move us forward and strengthening our business for the future.

Likes: shoes, spending time with family, shoes, Italy, Italian shoes, cooking for friends and…did I say shoes?

Dislikes: tomato ketchup, lonely eggs and confined spaces.

Cass Wagner

Operations Executive

Cass joined the team in September 2007. Having turned her hands to many skills, she has particular strengths in delivering a high level of customer service and brings a wealth of experience from a long financial background.

Cass wears several hats which include; taking care of the IMLPO membership, raising sponsorship for key events and her principal role as credit control.

She is a very assertive but also cheerful member of the team who has the ability to charm the birds out of the trees. Cass only works Tuesday to Friday and brings a welcome breath of fresh air to the end of the week, blowing out any cobwebs that have started to form.

Likes: wine, France, The Times and walking.

Dislikes: scary dogs, slugs and the rain.

Jennifer Green

Event / Account Manager

Jennifer joined the team in September 2011 and has a degree in Event Management. With over 3 years experience in the industry, having account managed as well as having worked within hospitality and within clerical roles, she has a firm understanding of the Events world.

Jennifer’s role is to assist with any of your needs, to organise and manage your events from start to finish.

Likes: Summer, Wine, Travelling, Zumba, Cooking & for things to be neat and tidy

Dislikes: Mushrooms, Cold dark mornings, Snakes and anyone that puts coriander in salads, it’s just wrong
